About LanternScout
Finding what lights the way
LanternScout helps people find good things to do near them — and turns those ideas into a day that actually works, with real places, opening hours, travel times and the weather on the day.
Describe what you are looking for in your own words. LanternScout uses AI to understand the request, searches real places on Google Maps, and puts the results together for you.
Our story
- Where it started. LanternScout began as an activity finder for kids: a faster way for parents to discover local classes, camps, and things to do without hours of searching.
- Where it is going. It has since grown into a discovery and planning tool for people of any age — families, couples, friends, and grandparents — with a full-day Weekend Planner, local events, and support for six languages.
- What stays the same. Care for the people going stays at the heart of it: whenever a child is in the group, we work to keep places centered on alcohol, cannabis, vaping, or gambling out of the results.
What LanternScout does
Scout
Describe an interest — a sport, a hobby, a class — and see matching places nearby, grouped by kind of activity, with ratings and links to each provider.
Weekend Planner
Tell us who is going and what kind of day you want. You get a timed plan for your weekend — activities, meals, and events — that you can adjust, map, and add to your calendar.
Made for anywhere
Available in English, French, Spanish, Persian, Chinese, and Arabic, and planned around local seasons, weekends, and how people get around where you are.
How we work
- Real places, looked up liveSuggestions come from current Google Maps results, not from a stored list.
- AI that assists, not decidesPlans are suggestions. Hours, prices, and details can change, so please check with each venue before you go.
- Privacy by designNo account is needed, what you type is not saved to our database, and we never sell data. See our Privacy Policy.
- IndependentWe are not paid to feature any venue, and showing a place is not an endorsement.
Support LanternScout
LanternScout is independently funded. Every search and plan uses AI and mapping services that have a real cost.
