1. About LanternScout

LanternScout is operated by LanternScout Technologies Inc. ("LanternScout", "we", "us", or "our"), a British Columbia corporation. We provide an AI-assisted discovery service that helps parents and guardians explore local classes, camps, and extracurricular activities for children. The Service is operated from British Columbia, Canada.

LanternScout does not own, operate, staff, supervise, control, vet, screen, license, insure, or endorse any activity provider displayed through the Service. Activity providers are independent third parties.

2. Eligibility and Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using LanternScout (the "Service"), you confirm that you are the age of majority in your jurisdiction and are a parent, legal guardian, or other adult authorized to use the Service on behalf of a child.

The Service is intended for adults. Children must not submit information directly through the Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

3. Discovery Tool Only

LanternScout is a discovery tool only. The Service may use artificial intelligence to suggest activity types, summarize publicly available information, organize listings, or surface providers that may be relevant to the information you submit.

Displaying, ranking, summarizing, or suggesting an activity or provider does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, verification, certification, or guarantee by LanternScout.

Assumption of Risk: By using LanternScout, you acknowledge that we do not conduct background checks, site visits, or safety audits of any activity providers. You expressly assume all risks associated with your and your child's participation in any activity found through the Service. Your decision to contact, enroll, or attend an activity is based entirely on your own independent due diligence.

Listings, ratings, reviews, images, hours, prices, availability, and other provider information may come from Google Places, provider websites, or other third-party sources. This information may be incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date.

You are solely responsible for independently evaluating any activity provider before contacting, paying, enrolling with, or attending that provider. To the fullest extent permitted by law, LanternScout is not responsible for the acts, omissions, negligence, conduct, services, facilities, staff, contractors, or policies of any third-party activity provider.

4. Acceptable Use and Information You Must Not Submit

You agree to provide only information that you have the legal right to share and only the minimum information reasonably necessary to use the Service.

Do not submit a child's full name, school, exact home address, contact information, precise location, date of birth, medical diagnosis, health records, photographs, financial information, government identification, or other identifying or sensitive personal information.

You must not:

• use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or harmful purpose;
• submit content that is hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit, violent, discriminatory, defamatory, or otherwise inappropriate;
• attempt to manipulate, jailbreak, bypass, or interfere with safety systems;
• scrape, reverse-engineer, overload, disrupt, or misuse the Service or its underlying APIs;
• use bots, scripts, or automated tools without our written permission;
• impersonate another person or submit information about another person without appropriate authorization; or
• use the Service in a way that violates applicable law or causes LanternScout to violate a third-party service provider's terms or policies.

Because our AI features are powered by Google, your use of them must also comply with Google's Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy.

We may block, filter, rate-limit, suspend, or terminate access to the Service at any time where we reasonably believe that misuse, security risks, or violations have occurred.

5. AI-Generated Content

Some content on LanternScout, including activity suggestions, listing summaries, and general explanations, is generated or assisted by artificial intelligence.

Probabilistic Disclaimer: You acknowledge that our AI models are probabilistic and may occasionally produce "hallucinations," errors, or outdated information. You agree that you will not rely solely on our AI summaries for time-sensitive, safety-critical, or professional decisions.

AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, inappropriate, or unsuitable for your circumstances. It is provided only as a starting point for your own investigation.

LanternScout does not provide medical, psychological, developmental, educational, legal, or other professional advice. The Service does not diagnose, assess, or evaluate a child, and you must not rely on it as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional.

No automated safety system is perfect. If you receive content that appears inappropriate, harmful, or incorrect, stop relying on it and contact us at hello@lanternscout.com.

6. Children's Information

LanternScout is intended to be used by adults, not directly by children. When submitting general information about a child, you confirm that you are authorized to do so and that you will not submit identifying or sensitive information.

To provide the Service, information you submit may be processed temporarily and may be sent to third-party service providers, including Google Gemini, as described in our Privacy Policy. Relevant generic search information, such as an activity category and approximate area, may also be processed through Google Places or related mapping services.

7. Permission to Process Submissions

You retain any rights you may have in the information you submit. By submitting information, you grant LanternScout Technologies Inc. a limited, non-exclusive permission to process that information solely as reasonably necessary to operate the Service, generate results, protect the Service from abuse, and comply with applicable law.

8. Optional Support

LanternScout is free to use. We offer an optional way for users to make a voluntary contribution to support the Service through Ko-fi (ko-fi.com/lanternscout). Contributions are entirely optional and are not required to access any feature. By contributing through Ko-fi, you agree to Ko-fi's terms.

9. Third-Party Services and External Links

LanternScout relies on third-party services. When you leave LanternScout or interact with a third-party provider, that third party's terms and privacy practices apply. Review them carefully before providing personal information or making a payment.

10. No Emergency, Medical, or Professional Service

LanternScout is not an emergency service. Do not use LanternScout to make decisions requiring professional judgment. Contact an appropriate qualified professional or emergency service where needed.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, LanternScout Technologies Inc. disclaims all express, implied, and statutory warranties.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, LanternScout Technologies Inc. and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from reliance on AI-generated content, third-party listings, external websites, or the acts or omissions of an activity provider.

Class Action Waiver: To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against LanternScout Technologies Inc. regarding any claim arising out of your use of the Service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of CAD $100 or the amount paid to us.

13. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless LanternScout Technologies Inc. from claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and reasonable expenses arising from your unlawful use of the Service, breach of these Terms, or infringement of another person's rights.

14. Changes, Suspension, and Availability

Termination for Convenience: We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time, for any reason, without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Your continued use of the Service after the updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada.

16. General Provisions

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and LanternScout Technologies Inc.
